Virtual Scholastic Book Fair

Virtual book fair graphic

Friends of the Modesto Library usually partners with Scholastic to host book sale fundraisers each year. This year sales are online. There is a NEW summer book fair with a NEW link, so you can buy books all summer long and support the mission of the library. You’ll see our virtual book fair listed as Stanislaus County Free Library. No need to “sign in;” just click “no thanks” to get started shopping.

When you shop  from May 22-Sept. 4, the Friends earn a credit equal to 25% of your purchase. (Please don’t use the earlier online book fair link to shop, because it now gives us only a 2% profit.) Proceeds will be used to support the mission of your Modesto Library.

On your computer, tablet, or phone. No need to leave your home.

New Collaboration!

Help put the brakes on the Summer Reading Slide!

Friends of the Modesto Library [FOML] and LearningQuest [LQ] are teaming up to put more children’s books into home libraries during these stay-at-home times.

  • It’s a fundraiser for FOML!
  • It’s a book drive for LearningQuest!
  • It’s an easy way to safely get books for your home with no shipping cost!

Reading level slide is common in regular summers. This year of the virus is likely to be even worse. Many families do not have internet or ebook access. They need books in the home to keep their skills sharp. Our virtual Scholastic Book Fair can help put on the brakes to that slide.

Order books for yourself/family/neighbors/students or LQ kids. FOML earns 25% of the price to support the library’s mission! Win/Win!

Go to our Scholastic Virtual Book Fair for high-quality, low-cost books with FREE SHIPPING directly to your/their house on book-only orders of $25 or more. Books can be shipped to anywhere: Grandma’s, your kids’ or–to LQ!

Learning Quest’s program, Giving Tree Book Drive,  needs 300 new books by August 7 to build each child’s home library. Books go to:

  • LearningQuest-Stanislaus Literacy Center
  • 1032 11th St.
  • Modesto, CA 95354

If you prefer to make a monetary donation to LQ, you can do that on the LQ landing page and still earn FOML 25% of the price!

The LQ site has other options listed, like dropping off new books for ages 0-17 directly to the LQ office.

  • Through Sept. 4: FOML’s Scholastic Virtual Book Fair
  • July 13-Aug. 7: LQ’s GIVING TREE book drive

Thanks in advance for your help stopping the summer slide. If you have any questions, give me a call. – Anne Britton (209)-996-1531
